Language needs: Higher language and communications expectations
How do the needs of today’s business leaders differ? So much more is expected of our business leaders today, particularly their ability to communicate in 2, even 3 languages. English as a global business language is a given. The expectation now is NOT that you simply speak and understand it. Rather, it’s that your English level is where you can effectively communicate your visions and strategies, where your words are eloquent, clear and concise, where your presentations are powerful, and your understanding, crystal clear.
What are the most important linguistic and communication goals for business leaders today?
A recent survey of partners and senior managers conducted at numerous professional services firms (accounting, tax, legal affairs, auditing, others) in Milan by Smile found that while there was a fairly wide range of desired structural, practical, psychological and technical linguistic and communication skills, the core motivation seemed to be that of individual "empowerment". This need encompassed all of the other skills commonly mentioned.
