Frankly, I don’t give a rat’s ass about this overly commercialized commemoration. But it’s hard not to get sucked into another meaningless count down. So, 14 days and counting for both the hopeless and hapless romantics. It won’t be long before we are all inundated with the millions upon millions of euros in a marketing blitz designed to tell us what constitutes romance and coaxing us to spend even more of our hard earned money on flowers, chocolate, and variety of other gifts that show our loved ones “how much” they mean to us. Clearly, I’m not the most romantic guy in the world. Perhaps I need some help. So, I’m looking for some creative ideas. What are you planning on doing this Valentine’s Day? Gift ideas? Romantic escapades? What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done, seen, heard of?
In the meantime, I found this relatively good quality version of the 2010 American romantic comedy called Valentine’s Day starring Jessica Alba, Julia Roberts and Jessica Biel. No idea if it’s any good. You’re on your own. http://www.megavideo.com/?d=OJV0WM70

I am not very romantic, but for goodness - who does not like to see the smile on the face of exploding its loved one? It isn’t the most expensive gift or the most original that make a difference, but the aroused emotion is priceless!

Hi Raj, i agree with you about S. Valentine's day. But it's nice thinking that one day of the year has dedicated to romanticism :) P.s. FYI, my love,SSCNaples, won the match for 2 to 0 against Cesena...the second place in Serie A is ours!!! Have a nice evening. See yuo soon. Cristina Naples

Raj, I agree with you. For me Valentin's day is only a commercialized commemoration. I didn't celebrate this in the past and I will not celebrate this year. For me St. Valentine's day is every day and not one day a year! Tiziana

I agree with you. St Valentine's day is a normal day for me. I think that people don't need this day to remember their love story.

I don't like St Valentine's day, in my opinion it's a normal day. I prefer to celebrate my love story every day or make something special when i'm inspired. I think it's better a little gift done with heart than give a big present only because we must do it.

I don't like St Valentine's day, I prefer my love story in other 364 days to year, but I'm sure that if I had no my girlfriend, for me the 14 february would be a sad day because unfortunately all couples in the world is happy for these day. I sure that St Valentine's day is only marketing day for to spend many money but if a couple is in difficult, these day can help for finish a relation. Have a nice love story.

Unfortunately I don't celebrate Valentine's Day not because I'm not inlove, but because my sweet half doesn't like this day. My husband is not a romantic man; he has never given me flowers, chocolate or lovely things for Valentine's Day. Every years I give him a little gift, but I don't receive nothing. The first times I was unhappy, but now I respect his point of view.He shows his love in other ways. When we were young and not married I persuaded him to celebrate this day.We went to Oltrepò Pavese by car and we lost in the fog. After 100 Km. we arrived in a romantic restaurant built into an old convent, but it was late and we found more place. We waited for two hours but we didn't have dinner. So we came back home hungry and my future husband very angry.

Federica, what a hilarious but wonderful story. I never really understood why flowers seem to have such a powerful effect on women. I mean, you can be a real bastard for days and weeks and suddenly present your woman with some beautiful flowers and everything is forgiven. I actually love giving flowers to my wife, though I don't do it as much as I'd like to.

I don't like Valentine's Day. I really don't understand how it is possible to celebrate one day only because someone has decided that we have to di it! For this reason i'm not the right person to advise you about what to do that day...

As you have written "bad" about S.Valentine...that is "commemoration for the sellers","an example of consumerism", ando so on, I would add just one thing...Federica your husband is a very lucky man!

Hi to all! I'm according with you that 14th Febrary is a commercial day, but why spend our time to remember this??? I think that it is much better enjoy the party and especially enjoy one, two or, if necessary, three chocolates and the kiss of our partner!!Bye

Valentine's Day is an odd holiday. I'm not one to care for it too much. I think we end up putting to much value on the "togetherness" aspect of our lives. I think in some cases it could even make relationships worse as couples stress over what to get each other, trying to get the "perfect" thing for their partner.

I love St.Valentine's day.You can think it is only a commercial day or not,but as Federica say, it is difficult nowadays find time to remember that we are born to be alive, and to be alive means also to be able to love. So why not spend this day in a lovely way? Take the opportunity to love.

In my opinion St. Valentine's day is like Berlusconi: everybody hate him, but he is always there....
