Public speaking
Media skills development

Method
Smile’s 4-step media training approach ensures trainers and trainees have a full understanding of communications challenges and goals. It provides a comprehensive theoretical overview of the interview process. And it offers several simulation, analysis and recommendation sessions over the course of a few weeks to establish concrete and enduring media interview skills.
Step 1: Analysis
Develop full understanding of communicator’s media interview needs, current skills and past experiences, areas to work on, time frame, budget, and set specific goals.
Step 2: Preparation
A half-day theoretical session that provides a general overview of the interview process, helps communicators better understand who journalists are, and offers suggestions on how best to approach an interview opportunity.

Step 3:
Simulation
Rigorous and realistic sessions to help communicators prepare for face-to-face, phone, radio or TV interviews. Training courses last several weeks. Courses are designed to affect real and enduring behavioral changes related to the interaction with journalists. The consultancy also offers half-day sessions, for urgent and crisis needs.
Step 4:
Feedback
Analysis of simulated interview sessions, including provision of a hypothetical article (if applicable) based on that session, and recommendations. Additional simulation sessions until communicator feels total confidence.
